Programmes · Individual students

One student. A programme built entirely around them.

Most of our work is with groups, but some of our most rewarding programmes have been designed for a single student. When a family asks, we build an individual programme around the student's goals, level and timetable. It is delivered by the same UK teachers, tutors and academic network that support our groups.

/01What we have designed

What an individual programme can include

Every programme is designed from scratch, but these are some of the programmes we have built for individual students in the past.

  1. 01

    Long-stay school immersion

A term or more inside a British school, rather than a week. The student follows a full timetable, joins clubs and activities, and has time to settle properly into UK school life. It is often the best way to find out whether full-time UK education is the right next step. We arrange the school placement, accommodation and ongoing support, and stay in touch with the family throughout.

  2. 02

    English language coaching

One-to-one coaching with experienced UK teachers, shaped around what the student needs: confidence in speaking, academic writing, preparation for a school placement, or English for a specific subject. Coaching can run on its own or alongside a school immersion, in the UK or online.

  3. 03

    Oxbridge and competitive university admissions

Preparation for Oxford, Cambridge and other highly selective universities from tutors with experience of university teaching, tutorials and admissions. Support can cover subject stretch beyond the school curriculum, admissions tests such as the TMUA, ESAT and PAT, the personal statement, and interview practice in the style of an Oxbridge interview. The aim is for students to understand how admissions tutors think, and to show their ability at its best.

  4. 04

    UK school entry preparation

Help with the practical side of joining a UK school: interview and entrance-exam technique, and advice on how UK schools read an application.

  5. 05

    Something else

If it is educational and it happens in the UK, ask us. If we are not the right people to help, we will say so.

/02How it works

How an individual programme comes together

  1. 01

    A conversation first.

We start with a call with the family and, where appropriate, the student, at a time that works in your timezone. We want to understand the student's goals, strengths, level and interests.

  2. 02

    A tailored proposal.

We come back with a suggested programme, who would teach or support the student, and how the practical arrangements would work.

  3. 03

    Refined together.

We adjust the content, pace and timings until the plan fits the student, not the other way round.

  4. 04

    Delivered and reported.

We keep the family updated regularly throughout, with feedback on progress from the people working with the student.

/03Why Bridges

Why families choose Bridges

  1. 01

    Teachers, not agents.

Our team are qualified UK teachers and school leaders who have taught international students themselves.

  2. 02

The right expert for each student.

Our network of subject specialists and university tutors lets us match a student to the right person, rather than to whoever is available.

  3. 03

    One point of contact.

One team co-ordinates the teaching, the placement and the practical arrangements, so the family always knows whom to ask.

/04 Safeguarding

For students under 18, supervision, accommodation and welfare arrangements are agreed with the family in writing before the programme begins. Everyone at Bridges who works with students holds current DBS clearance, and a named Bridges contact is reachable 24 hours a day while the student is in the UK.

Tell us about the student

Share a little about the student and what you hope the programme will achieve. We will suggest how we could help, and if an individual programme is not the right fit, we will tell you.
